Tara Stallworth Lee, 264 Bushels
Movement, Mark-making, and Neurodiversity in Community Space
In the Spring of 2024, The Old Bailey Gallery was honored to host multidisciplinary Alabama-based artist Tara Stallworth Lee during her residency at Studio By The Tracks, a nonprofit art studio serving artists on the autism spectrum in the Birmingham area.
264 Bushels was a month-long community-oriented project inspired by Tara’s time at Studio By The Tracks. Lee extended an open invitation to the greater Birmingham creative community to join her at a series of events, including workshops on papermaking, collage and more. These collaborative activities created the raw materials for the site-specific construction of the project as it evolved over the course of a month, culminating in a public presentation with dance, music and movement.
